Samantha has come a long way from the house in Orange County and the stigma of the tragic murder/suicide of her parents. She's got her life together and is marrying the man whose family helped her through that rough period, but why does she feel as if something is still missing? As if a part of herself is lost and she can't seem to find it.

Samantha had rolled over in bed at seven in the morning to find her fiancé, Robert, absent. She sighed deeply and rolled back onto her back, her eyes on the ceiling, as she lamented that once again she was waking up alone. She knew she should be used to it by now, but she wasn’t. She wasn’t sure she ever would be. Samantha still wondered if there would ever be a day when she could wake up and see Robert’s face asleep beside her. She thought it would be an awesome experience – he was after all a handsome man and sometimes, while he was asleep, she’d look at how peaceful he looked – how at ease. She wished he could look like that all the time, but unfortunately the moment he woke, he was up and going again and the pressures of his career began to take hold.

It took her a few minutes to get out from under the comfort of the covers and into the bathroom to start getting ready for the day. A warm shower later and the careful application of lotion and her make-up, after brushing her teeth, ensured her bathroom activities were complete and she proceeded to dress. She needed to go into the office before running some errands around town and hopefully meeting Robert for lunch. Forty-five minutes and a hearty breakfast later, Sam was slipping in behind the wheel of her black Maserati and going through the electronic turnstile as the car moved to street level. Minutes later she was pulling out into the business New York morning traffic.

It took her more than half an hour to get to her office and several more to get up to the offices themselves, as she stopped to speak to several familiar faces on her way through the building. She was well liked and well known there and sometimes the morning greetings, especially after the weekend, took much longer than one might expect. Still she enjoyed it. She was always a person who liked meeting others and the building that housed her company had a wealth of people coming in and out. Her assistance Colleen was already in place outside her office and had several messages waiting for her as she walked pass her desk. She flicked through them as she walked into her office, there were several she’d have to answer before heading out again, but there were a few that could wait and they would. She was a queen at prioritization and this was definitely a day for that. She had a lot to do – almost entirely wedding oriented – and those were things she needed to get under control as early as possible. She was already running behind plans, which was entirely her fault. A wedding planner had been hired, a very prominent and meticulous woman who promised to fulfil their every dream for that special day, the only problem was that Samantha and Robert were already so busy that they often wound up postponing meetings they had promised to attend. Eventually, for the sake of actually getting things done, they had agreed that Samantha would handle of the decision-making since finding a time to make the decision together seemed virtually impossible at times.

Several calls later Samantha found herself back on the road and heading into the heart of New York to attend her appointments. She found her space at the monthly pay to park lot vacant as always, and left leaving her car she put her heel to the pavement and began walking. She had been on the move for maybe fifteen minutes when she thought she heard someone say her name, but she quickly shook it off and continued. Then she heard it again much clearer causing her to stop and turn around.

“Hi!” A smile lit of up her face as she spoke.
